We have partnered up with Sketch, an organization that works with homeless youth and provides them with ways to express themselves through art and we are offering them workshops with the artists participating in the exhibition, as well to take part in the official exhibition through their own interpretation of one of the songs from the album!

The Happiness Project
is a JUNO-award winning album composed and produced by Charles Spearin of the Toronto-based bands Broken Social Scene and Do Make Say Think on the Arts and Crafts label. Interested in learning about people's definition of 'happiness', Charles interviewed his Annex neighbours and then took their spoken words and wrote music to accompany their responses. The resulting compositions are moving, insightful, and inspirational.

The Happiness Project: In the House
is a collaborative and interactive installation-based exhibition curated by Artist Bloc and built around artists' interpretations of Spearin's compositions and their own definition of 'happiness'.

The exhibition will open on October 1st, 2011 as part of Scotiabank‘s Nuit Blanche and will run until October 15th, 2011.
